This is not directly gadget related, but it fits nicely in the geek subculture, of wich gadgets are of course an essential part. Yesterday, mutiny broke out on Digg. Somebody posted the key that is used by HD-DVDs to encrypt the contents. Fearing lawsuits, the Digg crew removed the post. However, the key soon appeared again, only to get removed again. This upset the Digg user community and the front page was literally flooded with posts containing the key! I'm not gonna post it here because I don't want to get into trouble, no matter how ridiculous the fact that I can get sued for publishing a prime number is. Anyway, Digg founder Kevin Rose posted an article on the Digg blog, saying that the Digg members made their point clear and they won't be removing any more posts and are ready to deal with the consequences.
And this brings me to the subject of this rant. Geoff Smith wrote a song about the entire thing, titled Digg the code. The HD-DVD key is part of the lyrics, and is also shown in the video, wich features Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht (hosts of Diggnation and Cali Lewis (host of Geek Brief and hottest geek girl ever). The song even isn't bad at all! The videoclip can be viewed online or downloaded in Quicktime format.
