Wii boxing gloves

Every now and then you see gadgets that make you raise your eyebrows and think "WTF?". This is one of those gadgets: a pair of inflatable (!!!) boxing gloves for Wii Sports.

The gloves have built-in pouches for the Wiimote and Nunchuck controllers.

Lego AT-AT

Combining Star Wars and Lego is guaranteed to result in an infinite amount of coolness, and this Lego AT-AT model is no exception to that. Okay, so maybe it doesn't make the ground vibrate for kilometers around, but it actually walks and has a minifig Luke Skywalker hanging underneath it!

I should really start having kids so I have a good excuse to start buying Lego again...

New Cubeworld stuff!

A while ago I mentioned Cube World, a great toy set for making long, boring days at the office seem a little less like hell. Now they have something new: Cubeworld Places! The "places" are cubes that are twice as big as the regular ones and contain stuff like a bar, a rock concert or a circus. Here's what it looks like:

It works the same as other Cubeworld units. You can connect other cubes to it and the residents will walk from one cube to another, talk to each other, have fun or pick a fight. Currently, twelve different Cubeworld units and two Cubeworld Places units are available.

Ministack Harddrive

This sure is a harddrive loaded with extra features! Besides an external drive it's also a hub for all sorts of connections, such as: USB, Firewire 400, Firewire 800 and eSata. All required cables are included, so you don't need to buy extra cables (that usually cost quite a bit) to use the features

The drive comes with backup software, like most external drives, and has a look that matches the Mac Mini. I don't know if it can be stacked like other accessories. The name implies that it's possible, but I'm not sure. Capacity ranges from 160GB to 1TB.

Numark iDJ2

Good news for DJs! Numark's new iDJ2 mixing console is available. The key feature of this unit has been the iPod dock since the start, but the new version also has a USB port for connecting other storage media, such as other MP3 players, USB sticks or even portable harddrives. Also, only one drive is needed for mixing two tracks. Similar mixing consoles require you to connect two drives.
Searching, mixing and scratching is done with two large jog wheels, and the pitch control has a range of +25%/-100%. In addition to the iPod dock and the USB connectors, there's a dedicated microphone input with level and tone control and phono/line inputs on both music channels. A USB keyboard can also be connected. To top it all off, there's a big backlit color LCD display with an advanced user interface.

Saitek Cyborg P3600 Gamepad

A common problem with gamepads is the position of the analog stick and D-pad. Depending on wich one you use the most, the position may not always be the best one. Usually, the analog stick is placed below the D-pad, but if you have use the stick a lot you can get a rather painful condition known as a "Nintendo thumb" (even if you're playing on a PC or Playstation).
The Saitek Cyborg P3600 gamepad solves this problem by making it possible to change the position of these units. The analog stick and D-pad form a unit that can be flipped, so the controls are in the most comfortable position. The gamepad only works on a PC, though, but comes with rumble function.

Laser Combat Cars

These cars, that look more like something you would see in Robot Wars or a scifi movie, have infrared lasers that can be fired from the remote control to zap the other car. Firing the laser will cause the car to recoil. One of the cars can also be set to AI mode, so it's entirely computer controlled, making it possible to fight a laser battle without the need for a human opponent.

Pingo International Phone Calls

Pingo is offering very interesting rates on international phone calls, with rates going as low as 1.8 cents per minute. Pingo offers a system with so-called virtual calling cards. You dial a toll free number and then you have to enter your PIN-number, after wich you can make international phone calls at incredibly low rates.
They also offer business plans that include master accounts with several sub accounts. With this system, it is possible to give employees or family members the opportunity to use Pingo's services while still having full control and only having to sign up for one single plan.
To check the rates per minute, Pingo has a service called Ratewatcher. You enter what country you are calling from, what country you're calling to and you get the rate per minute in the currency of your choice to see if you're really getting the lowest rate. And keep in mind, Pingo is not just for landlines, it also works with mobile phones, often 90% cheaper than standard services!
Right now, Pingo is also offering some interesting promotions. First of all, when you sign up using this link, you get a 5$ discount. Additionally, you can enter the discount code "ppp3" for an additional 3$ discount, giving you a 25$ calling card for just 17$! And if you want to refer new members, there's a 15$ bonus for each new member you refer.

Another wireless USB hub

Iogear is now shipping its latest wireless USB hub. The device can connect up to four USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices, wich in turn can communicate with up to three pc's. This means you can, for example, allow a printer to be shared between several computers without the need for a printer server or one of the computers to be switched on all the time. The range is approximately 10 meters (30 feet).

Laser Record Player

Some people still claim that records sound better than cds. Those people are also known as freaks. And what happens when such freaks have too much money? They buy stuff like this!

Instead of a needle, this record player uses five lasers to scan the grooves. This produces a better quality sound and doesn't cause any wear on the record itself. The price of this little gizmo? Fourteen thousand smackers! And that's only for the record player. Add an amplifier and speakers (and with equipment like this, you're not gonna use any kind of amp or speakers) and you easily reach several tens of thousands of dollars.

Custom laptop designs

Everybody probably knows those stick-on skins that you can put on laptops, mp3 players or portable game consoles. I myself have one on my Nintendo Wii. The problem with larger objects, like a laptop, is that it's a lot more difficult to put them on properly and that they tend to peel off, especially if you carry your laptop around in a bag a lot.

Now NVousPC offers laptops with a design painted on it, not a sticker. They offer two basic models that can be customized, a 14.1" and a 15.4" one. In addition to that, you can get one of their designs applied to your own laptop.
